More Info:

(2-CD set) This is the first anthology of Yiddish music. This double boxed edition, comprising 36 titles, covers all aspects of Yiddish culture. Apart from this breath-taking variety, the disc also presents some excellent artists such as Benny Goodman, Maurice Ravel, Ernest Bloch and the cantor Rosenblatt, and new recordings of classical songs including My Yiddishe Momme, Bei Mir Bist du Sch”n and Gefile Fish. In the book of liner notes, Claude Fihman explained ‘This panorama of Yiddish music is by no means exhaustive, but aims to instigate reissues of sound documents so they are available for the general public’. This quality album can be offered as a collector’s item to introduce amateurs to the Yiddish culture, or to bring back sweet childhood memories to connoisseurs
